5 Skincare Mistakes I Wish I Fixed Sooner
I used to think I had a “bad skin type” — but really, I was just doing a few things wrong. Once I started fixing these small skincare mistakes, everything changed. My skin became calmer, clearer, and way more glowy. If you’re struggling too, maybe this post will help you skip the learning curve.
1. Washing My Face Too Much ๐งผ
I used to wash my face 3–4 times a day thinking it would stop the oil. But over-cleansing just dried out my skin and made it even oilier. Now I cleanse only twice — once in the morning, once at night — and my skin feels so much better.
2. Skipping Sunscreen Daily ☀️
I thought I didn’t need sunscreen unless I was “outside all day.” Big mistake. Sun damage happens even through windows! Once I started wearing SPF 30+ every single day (yes, even when it’s cloudy), my skin tone evened out and I stopped getting random dark spots.
3. Using Too Many Products at Once ๐
At one point, I had like 6 serums in my routine. ๐ I was trying to fix everything — acne, texture, dullness — all at once. But more isn’t always better. Now I use fewer products consistently, and my skin is way less irritated.
4. Ignoring My Neck & Hands ๐
I focused so much on my face, I totally forgot my neck and hands — which age too! Now I apply leftover moisturizer and sunscreen to my neck and the backs of my hands. Future me will thank me for this one.
5. Not Drinking Enough Water ๐ง
I know it sounds basic… but when I started drinking 2–3 liters of water daily, my skin really did start looking brighter and less puffy. Hydrated skin starts from the inside too!
Your skin doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful. These changes didn’t make me look “flawless,” but they did make me feel more confident and less frustrated. ๐
What’s one skincare mistake you’ve learned from?
